The Castle of Mey, built in the 1560s, was bought by Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother in 1952 who restored the castle and created the beautiful gardens that can be seen today. Today visitors can tour of the castle and gardens for a rare opportunity to enjoy Queen Elizabeth's summer home much as she left it after her last visit in October 2001.
